The Lake District

Hill top view of Duddon Sands beyond that the Isle of Mann

My wife, Erica was kind enough to give me the day off to take photographs in
The Lake District. I packed my camera gear,  jumped in the car drove up the M6
to the A590 to the A5902 and ended up pulling off the road somewhere between
Gawthwaite and Grizebeck.

I found a trail that lead me up to a hill top with endless views in all directions.
It was a beautiful clear warm day with fluffy white clouds everywhere.  I am
really looking forward to coming back to see how different this amazing
landscape looks in July.

Rain

It rained all day. We are starting to get ready for our trip to Italy packing and trying
to plan what we are going to be doing the first three weeks in June.

Long Lane

Took Peter for a hike above Long Lane yesterday afternoon.  On our right was a big field
full of sheep with hazy back light,  to the left golden fields of long grass and rolling snow
capped hills. Peter staggered along with me in the cold wind until he couldn't take it any
more and started heading back to the car.

Our trusty and sometimes leaky transportation "The Proton Race Car".

Laundry

We spent the morning hanging laundry in the garden with the boys.

Peter & Townes

According to Peter: "Townes is a Lion and he likes to eat
Rhinoceros in the forest."

Now Entering Blackpool "No need to speed."

That's debatable.

Made it back to Blackpool with the kids and another family
last Sunday.  It has not lost a bit of its charm and authenticity
since my last visit.

Last night we burned a cupboard to the ground

It was Chris, Jennifer, Benjamin and Emma's last night here before returning to Alameda, CA.
We drug an old cupboard out of the garage in the snow. We filled it with sticks, paper, and
gasoline.  We brilliantly set this up under a tree with many low branches.  And people wonder
why there are so many wildfires in California. The tree survived.

Coniston Water

So far we have made three long tours of the Lake District by car without any opportunity
to stop and take photographs.  Which has been rather agonizing as it is such an amazingly
beautiful part of the country.  Next week I hope to make a solo trip.
