Our last day in Italy

On Wednesday we took what turned out to be a very long drive to Pitigliano.
On our long drive we decided to leave Italy a day early... a decision later we
really regretted.

Sunset

On Tuesday we spent most of the day up on the hill playing enjoying the warm sun.
Late in the afternoon I went out for a drive to Monte Oliveto to take some pictures of the
landscape there at sunset. Something I wish I had done a lot more of.

Rolling Hills and Streams

Yesterday my faithful assistant Townes Bad Buren and I went out for a drive to Pienza.
We took a few more photo's of Monte Amiata,  and stopped along a small stream, where
Townes  had a rock tasting while I took some more pictures. We were trying to squeeze a
quick trip down to the Amalfi coast into the end of our trip but have decided it would be
too much time in the car for the kids.

Saturnia

Sunday was nice and warm almost as if we had gone from Winter into Summer over night.
We decided to take the new rental out for a long drive to the Saturnia hot springs which
turned out to be a bit more of a gypsy bathing experience than we had expected. The boys
had a great time splashing about in the hot water.  Once we had dried off we drove up to
the very sleepy little town of Saturnia for some gelato before the extra long drive home.
 Thanks Garmin.

We really need to get a new travel agent...

Saturday 2:50AM woke up had a quick shower then Erica and I blasted down the hill
and up the A1 to Bologna Airport so I could catch a 7AM flight to Munich. Arrived in
Munich at 8AM to pick up our new rental car. I was hoping to stop and take a lot photos
on the drive from Munich back to Cortona but the drive turned out to be much longer
and more grueling than I had anticipated (10 hours). Our new car is a huge improvement
over the Saxo which should make the long drive from Cortona to Biarritz a little more
bearable.
